They Tried to Force Me to Raise a Baby That Wasn’t Mine

I had a crush on her for years. She was beautiful. Out of reach. Then she got pregnant.

The father was gone. She was left with nothing but her parents. Suddenly she wanted me. She said she loved me. She wanted me to raise her baby.

Her parents backed her up. They told me to “be a man.” They wanted me to take the burden so they didn’t have to.

But I was not the father.

She asked me to get a job. Find a home. Take her in. Raise a child that wasn’t mine. Was this love? Or was I just a replacement?

I told her no. I had plans. I wanted the Corps. I wanted a future.

My dad told me something I will never forget. “Her baby is not your responsibility. You are still a kid yourself. Do not give your life away.”

Her father called me weak. Said I wasn’t a real man. But I stood firm.

Then things turned darker. She and her parents wouldn’t stop. Calls. Messages. Pressure. Nonstop.

I blocked them. All of them. Every number. Every account.

But they found new ways to reach me. I felt trapped.

So I went to the law. I filed for protection.

Now I have a restraining order against her and her parents. They cannot call, text, visit, or contact me in any way. If they do, deputies will take them to jail.

I never thought a crush could destroy so much. But I see clearly now. Love is not being forced into chains. Love is not giving up your future for a child that isn’t yours.

I almost gave up my dreams. Instead, I chose myself.
