I Gave My Sister $20K for IVF — Now She Says I’m ‘Heartless’ for Wanting It Back

Two years ago, my sister begged me for $20,000 to cover IVF costs. I didn’t make much, but I’d just inherited some money from our grandfather. She promised to pay me back within three years, and we even wrote it down.

When she got pregnant with twins, I cried. It felt like our whole family had been blessed. I never once regretted helping her.

But now… it’s been two years. Not a single payment. Instead, she’s posting photos of a brand-new SUV, captioned: “Mom life means upgrading for the babies!”

I texted her gently, reminding her of our agreement. She replied, “You wouldn’t take money from your niece and nephew’s mouths, would you?”

That’s when something inside me snapped.

I said, “No. But I’m also not their parent. You are.”

Now she’s crying to everyone—telling them I’m heartless, selfish, “money-obsessed.” My parents told me to just let it go.

But what they don’t know is… that $20K was my down payment for a home. My dream of finally moving out, gone—because I wanted her to have hers.

And the part that hurts most?
Last week, I found out she told her friends I “gifted” her the money.

So I guess she wasn’t lying when she said miracles cost something.
I just didn’t realize it would be me.
