A crowd of nearly 50 protesters gathered in downtown Evansville near the Four Freedoms Monument, voicing opposition to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) policies and President Donald Trump.
Organizers dubbed the rally “Arrest the President’s Day,” framing it as a call for accountability.
Protesters’ Claims
Demonstrators carried signs and flags while speaking out against what they describe as misconduct by Trump and members of his administration.
Some participants referenced what they call the “Epstein Files,” alleging that the documents show illegal activity involving Trump and his supporters. They argued that those named should face legal consequences.
No charges related to those claims have been filed against Trump in connection with the materials referenced by protesters.
“Now Is the Time to Get Involved”
Organizer Kristina Gardener urged more residents to take part in civic action.
“I would like to see people getting out and getting involved,” she said. “Even if you’re afraid to stand up, we need to use our voices — now is the time to get involved.”
Organizers say this demonstration is just the beginning.
They plan to continue hosting protests every Friday at the Evansville Federal Building, hoping momentum will build in the coming weeks.
A Growing Pattern of Local Activism
While the Evansville rally was relatively small, it reflects broader national tensions surrounding immigration enforcement and federal leadership.
Across the country, communities have seen similar demonstrations — both in support of and opposition to federal immigration policies.
For now, organizers say they intend to keep showing up — every Friday — to make their voices heard in downtown Evansville.
