I Thought That Red Liquid Was Blood—What He Hid Next Blew My World

I arrived at the restaurant feeling tense. He ordered steak—rare. When the red liquid pooled on the plate, my throat tightened. I blurted out, “Is that blood?” The entire table froze.
He gave me a calm, steady look and said, “No — that’s not blood.”
I frowned, disbelief mixing with relief. How could I have feared that?
He explained about proteins, water—how what I saw was natural, not what my guilt twisted it into.

But inside me, the fear remained. Doubt gnawed: What else am I seeing wrong?
Weeks passed. I found messages—texts between him and someone else. Not exactly hidden, but disguised.
I confronted him. He apologized: “It’s just a friend.”
I believed him. I had to.

Then one night, I found a box in his drawer. Inside: ultrasound photos.
“There’s no friend,” his note read. “I’ve been carrying our baby — and I never told you.”
SHOCK coursed through me.
He wasn’t cheating on me with another woman. He was hiding another life inside him.

I thought I understood betrayal. But this — this was something else entirely.
